The 6061 alloy contains magnesium and silicon as its primary alloying elements, combined with small amounts of copper and chromium that enhance its strength and corrosion resistance. After heat treatment to the T6 temper, these angles achieve their full mechanical properties, making them suitable for demanding structural roles in aerospace, marine, automotive, and heavy industrial applications where standard architectural-grade alloys are insufficient.
